La Bouée MOLIT : un nouveau concept de bouée instrumentée ArchiMer
Quemener, Loic; Repecaud, Michel; Jegou, Paul; Aoustin, Yannick; Retho, Michael; Barbot, Stephane; Gautier, Laurent; Podeur, Christian; Pichavant, Pascal.

New instruments to monitor coastal sea water masses according to European Water Framework Directive, Trophimatique project ArchiMer
Repecaud, Michel; Degres, Yves; Bernard, Nathalie; Allenou, Jean-pierre; Aoustin, Yannick; Arrondeau, Jean-pierre; Bouget, Jean-francois; Bucas, Karenn; Daniel, Anne; Guillaud, Jean-francois; Hamon, Michel; Jegou, Paul; Laes, Agathe; Le Roux, Dominique; Le Piver, David; Quemener, Loic; Rolin, Jean-francois; Rudelle, Tiphaine; Legrand, Jacques; Vuillemin, Renaud.
The automated monitoring of physico-chemical parameters in the coastal zone has been using large buoys and fixed infrastructures. A better understanding of many estuaries is needed in order to fulfil the agenda and requirements of the European Water Framework Directive. In order to address the fluxes of nutrients as well as algal blooms and low oxygen events, the "TROPHIMATIQUE" project has developed a new generation of instruments able to be deployed in sea waters. The smaller size of the new instruments is intended to facilitate the maintenance. A new multi-parameter probe has been developed. The measurements of all nutrients are performed thanks to the CHEMINI flow injection analysers for nitrate, ammonia, silicate and phosphate. A sampler using similar...

PREVIMER: A contribution to in situ coastal observing systems ArchiMer
Charria, Guillaume; Repecaud, Michel; Quemener, Loic; Menesguen, Alain; Rimmelin-maury, Peggy; L'Helguen, Stephane; Beaumont, Laurence; Jolivet, Aurelie; Morin, Pascal; Mace, E; Lazure, Pascal; Le Gendre, Romain; Jacqueline, Franck; Verney, Romaric; Marie, Louis; Jegou, Paul; Le Reste, Serge; Andre, Xavier; Dutreuil, Vincent; Regnault, Jean-pierre; Jestin, Herve; Lintanf, Herve; Pichavant, Pascal; Retho, Michael; Allenou, Jean-pierre; Stanisiere, Jean-yves; Bonnat, Armel; Nonnotte, Lidwine; Duros, Wenceslas; Tarot, Stephane; Carval, Thierry; Le Hir, Pierre; Dumas, Franck; Vandermeirsch, Frederic; Lecornu, Fabrice.
To design a prototype for an Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS), at least three components are mandatory: a modeling platform, an in situ observing system and a structure to collect and to disseminate the information (e.g. database, website). The PREVIMER project followed this approach and in order to sustain model applications, PREVIMER has developed, funded and organized part of in situ observing networks in the Bay of Biscay and the Channel. For a comprehensive system, focus was addressed on fi xed platforms (MAREL MOLIT, MAREL Iroise, Island network and D4 for sediment dynamics), ships of opportunity (RECOPESCA program and FerryBoxes), and coastal profi lers (ARVOR-C/Cm). Each system is briefl y described and examples of scientifi c results...

The SAMBA experiment. Volume 1 : SAMBA 1 LAGRANGIAN and CTD DATA. February 1994 -August 1995 ArchiMer
Ollitrault, Michel; Auffret, Yves; Cortes, Norbert; Hemon, Catherine; Jegou, Paul; Le Reste, Serge; Loaec, Gerard; Rannou, Jean Philippe.
In February 1994, during the SAMBA 1 cruise, 9 CTD casts were done and 22 subsurface floats (20 MARVOR, 1 VCM, 1 ALFOS) launched near 800 dbar in the Brazil basin, within the framework of the SAMBA Experiment. SAMBA (SubAntartic Motions in the Brazil bAsin), is a component of the WOCE float program, and aims at describing the absolute general circulation of the Antarctic Intermediate Water around 800 m depth in the Brazil basin. MARVOR and ALFOS floats cycle every 2 months between thier nominal depth and surface to transmit data via the ARGOS system and were programmed for 30 cycles, i.e. a total life of 5 years. THE VCM float, on the other hand is a one shot RAFOS-type float which was programmed for a 1.5 year mission at depth. This report presents the...
